The European Union is becoming a Totalitarian Superstate
It costs European taxpayers approximately at least €140 billion annually to run the European Union and to subsidise more or less useless projects. Regulations, directives and decisions render soverignty of individual member states void. Although the European Union is formally not a soverign state it has become soverign de facto. As a citizen of a EU-member state, I want my member state to unilaterally secede from the European Union.
Freedom and Voluntary Cooperation
All people are born free as well as all people are sole owners of their body and fruits of their activity (their wealth). Barrier-free travel, trade and providing of services is usually beneficial for both trading parties. Unilateral secession from the European Union does not automatically mean cancellation of free trade since the European Economic Area (EEA) consists from European Union member states and European Free Trade Association (EFTA) member states. The Schengen Area (barrier-free borders) is bound to the European Union treaties but allows membership of non-EU states (currently Iceland, Norway and Switzerland). The seccession from the European Union de facto means disengagement from the European law, from the European budget and potentially from the euro (although EU non-members like Monaco, San Marino, Vatican City, Andorra and Montenegro also use euro as their currency).
Why NoSeat.EU?
There is a petition to merge the two seats of European Parliament (Strasbourg, Brussels) into one seat at Brussels. That petition (oneseat.eu) calls for using only one EP seat at Brussels. We argue that European citizens do not need political/fiscal/tax/... union. Hence we don't need any seat of the European Parliament.
